How Diva Works
Diva employs a micro-investing model to seed projects. We're particularly interested in projects that could contribute to community benefit, but we do not limit funding strictly to such. The goal is to increase exposure and access to hacking, especially to people who would normally not have an opportunity to do so.
HTINK seeks to provide an environment where learning and collaboration are fostered. We believe everyone should have access to adequate resources as well as necessary support to explore tinkering and creativity through science, technology and electronics. We've created Diva to facilitate our mission beyond our physical space.
Apply. Build. Showcase.
Think of an idea or project you would like to try out. You can browse HTINK's project page for inspiration or come up with your own. Most project ideas come from the public at large, while others are sponsored or commissioned. If you choose a project that is commissioned or sponsored, be sure to check on the details of the request and funding guidelines.
Once you've come up with an idea, you will need to plan and budget for parts, equipment and other resources necessary to build. You will also need to consider how your project will be used by the public. This will help you determine which form of funding support to request. Sponsored and commissioned projects may have pre-defined funding requirements. At-large project suggestions offered by the public may also include suggested funding criteria. Guides and worksheets are available in the resources section of this site.
Diva provides the following forms of funding ranging from $50 per project to $200 per project to cover materials, shipping, marketing and recovery of costs:
- micro-loans
- micro-equity
Diva provides the following as part of its funding process:
- parts, training and resources to build projects
- support to generate revenue to pay back Diva loans and to pay it forward
- assistance with documenting projects and publicity
